Art & Design Awards
Being part of the Visual Arts journey has been a truly rewarding experience. Through each project, I’ve had the chance to express myself, explore different styles, and grow as an artist. Receiving these awards means a lot to me, and I’m truly grateful for the guidance and encouragement from my teachers, mentors, and fellow artists.
Thank you for recognising my work and for giving me the opportunity to share my creativity with others. This motivates me to keep improving and continue creating with passion.
I was honoured to receive 2nd Prize in the 16th National Junior Watercolour Competition in 2024, where there were over 800 entries in my category. My painting depicted a kampong scene in Singapore, inspired by stories my grandmother used to share about her childhood and her pet chickens. I tried to capture the nostalgia and warmth of that era through my brushstrokes.
This was my third year participating in the competition, and I’m grateful for the journey it has taken me on. In 2022, I received a Highly Commended Award, followed by a Consolation Prize in 2023. Each experience taught me something new and helped me grow as a young artist.
I participated in the YWCA HeART Beats Music and Charity Festival as both a performer and artist, supporting fundraising efforts for over 2,000 underprivileged families and empowerment programmes for women and children.
I performed Vivaldi’s Autumn (Allegro) and Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins (Vivace) as a duet, and contributed two original artworks for auction. Through this event, I raised a total of $1,335. It was a meaningful opportunity to give back to the community through music and art.
When I was in Primary 4, I was awarded a Consolation Prize - Primary Group B (age 10 to 12), in the 15th National Junior Watercolour Competition, organised by the Singapore Watercolour Society.
My artwork was one of 54 selected from 1,245 entries to be exhibited at their 54th Annual Exhibition at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre. It was a true honour to present my piece to Minister Gan Siow Huang and to see it displayed alongside works by esteemed professional artists; an experience that continues to inspire me on my artistic journey.
In 2022, Stella and I received 2nd Place and The Most Artistic Award at the ViArt Green Competition for our upcycled installation A New Eden. Exhibited at the Sustainable Singapore Gallery, it imagined a thriving, zero-waste future—where nature reclaims a world free from pollution and the looming threat of Semakau’s closure.
When I was 9 years old, I received a Highly Commended Award in the 14th National Junior Watercolour Competition—my first-ever art competition. Out of over 730 entries, my artwork was selected as one of 56 winning pieces to be exhibited at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre alongside works by members of the Singapore Watercolour Society.
I was especially excited to meet Minister Ong Ye Kung and share my artwork with him; an unforgettable moment that sparked my love for painting.
