OrkesterEfterskolens Kammermusikfestival 2025
Holstebro, Denmark

Date: 23 March 2025
Violin: Audrey Foo, 12
Cello: Theo
Piano: Professor Jacob Lidåkra

The music begins with soft piano notes, and the violin and cello soon join in with smooth, lyrical melodies. There are no big or dramatic moments, but the beauty of this piece lies in its simplicity and balance. Every note feels thoughtful, and the instruments must blend carefully to keep the mood soft and expressive.

During rehearsals, we focused a lot on phrasing and listening to each other. We learned how to shape each line with care and to follow the slight changes in tempo and dynamics. It was important not to rush, but to let the music breathe. This helped us bring out the emotional warmth that Debussy had written into the score.

Playing this piece taught me that soft music can be just as powerful as loud or fast music. Even though it is quiet, the Andante espressivo says a lot through its gentle harmonies and flowing lines. It was a special experience to perform something so delicate, and I learned how important it is to listen closely and play with feeling.
