Capriccio Op. 18, by Cécile Chaminade ABRSM Violin
This gorgeous ladylike piece starts off with a rich, melodic tune with rapid staccatos and dramatic phrasing, the music extends to the higher ranges, featuring light and bouncy notes.
Cappriccio has an unconventional twist in it, aligning with the modern style of writing. In the later half of the piece, it ventures into sombre qualities with running notes and resolves to the rich opening at the end.
