Amity - A Fund Raiser for Ukraine, Apr 2022

When I first heard about the war in Ukraine, I didn’t understand much at first, but I learned that many people, including children like me, had to leave their homes because it wasn’t safe. It made me feel sad and also very lucky to live in a peaceful place.

In my art class, we learned that the sunflower is a symbol of hope for the people in Ukraine. So I decided to paint a sunflower to help. I worked hard on my painting and put in bright colours to make it cheerful. We sold our paintings to raise money for people affected by the war.

It felt really nice to know that even though I’m just 10, I could still do something small to help. I hope my sunflower brings some light to someone who needs it.
